WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW… We will call you with a confirmation of your request and schedule a time for your intended Cleanout. You don’t need to be there but…please make sure your pump is accessible, your outside water and electric is turned on. WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CLEANOUT? Spring Cleanouts will be conducted around early February. At the Cleanout we will do the following: Remove all your fish from the pond, place them in a portable tub with an aeration pump and cover the top during the cleaning process. (Important notice, please read fish disclaimer on sign-up form.) Then we will pump and drain all water and sludge out of pond. Wash waterfall rocks, stream rocks and pond rocks off with water using owner’s water faucet. (We will only pressure wash rocks at the request of homeowner, we feel that pressure washing your pond will only damage your plants and destroy beneficial bacteria and algae colonies). Clean and pump out all debris and sludge buildup in Biological Waterfalls, replace lava rocks with media blox. Wash or replace filter mats (there are three mats in each Biological Waterfall. Clean Skimmer debris net and Skimmer mat (replace Skimmer and Biological Waterfall mats if necessary due to two years of service, media breaking down, or small particles of leaves trapped in media that cannot be removed). Remove and inspect pump from Skimmer and pump out all debris in Skimmer. Check underwater lights, replace light bulbs if needed. Check the Automatic Fill Valve for proper function and adjust if needed. We will also trim all pond and stream plants of dead leaves, thin out over-growth of plants as needed. HydroSolve rocks and apply HydroBalance Pond Guard treatment (if needed) for heavy buildup. Refill pond with fresh water, restart system and condition pond water with Hydro-D-Chlor which removes Chlorine, Chloramines, Ammonia, Detoxifies Heavy Metals and Nitrites, adds essential electrolytes and enhances the slime coat of fish. We will also start reseeding the beneficial bacteria count with Beneficial Pond Bacteria. HOW MUCH WILL MY CLEANOUT COST? This is a difficult question to answer, but we try to clean your pond as cost effectively as possible. Each pond is different and has many variables that influence the time it takes to clean the pond such as size, date of last cleaning, and seasonal effects. We charge a Service Call of $60.00 and labor charge of $50.00 per man hour plus the cost of products or supplies used. HOW WILL I PAY FOR MY CLEANOUT? Upon completion of your Cleanout, our crew will complete a detailed checklist which we will mail to you with an itemized invoice. You can then mail us a check. WHEN WILL MY CLEANOUT BE COMPLETED? As soon as the leaves are finished falling off the trees, we will begin Cleanouts. If your pond is located in a screened room, lanai or you have no trees; we can clean your pond sooner. We group Cleanout’s geographically and do one to two jobs in a day (depending on size of pond). We will call you with your scheduled cleanout date and time. We will do our best to get you as soon as possible. We typically cleanout around 150 ponds each spring, this year we anticipate cleaning approximately 200 ponds and expect to be done by the end of April.
